Managing Life and Writing |Interview With Tamara

This summer, I have decided to interview some of the people that I find interesting. Although many are family, friends, and acquaintances, I have learned a lot from these interviews.

So, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did and I encourage you to do the same to the interesting people around you!

_dsc6735Tamara is the founder of www.caramellattesandstilettos.com. I fondly admire the way she runs a multi-contributor blog and have just recently received the opportunity to get to know her a bit more!

What’s the story behind your website? When did you start it and why?

I started Caramel Lattes and Stilettos based on conversations that I had with my closest girlfriends. We were all going through things in our personal lives and I thought, maybe there are other women that are going through and need support but don’t have good friends to help them out. I wanted to blog to be the place that a woman can go at 3 am and find relatable material when she needs support and doesn’t have a friend to call and depend on.

What is the best/worst parts of running a multi-contributor blog?

Each woman has a different perspective and so all women are reflected. The most difficult part is that we all have so much going on in our lives, everyone can’t contribute as often as they would like to.

I definitely understand that! So how do you manage all the different aspects of your life and still manage to run a blog and go on outings with your team members?

It happens pretty easily. We just organize and schedule. Life is about balance. You have to work and play. And if you are fortunate enough that your work is fun, it never feels like work!

What about you? How did you get your start on writing?

I’ve been writing as long as I could read. I was always creating stories. In the 4th grade, my teacher Mr. Dunbar handed me a stack of paper. He folded it, stapled it in the binding and sat it in front of me and told me to write stories. That triggered something in me that still burns today whenever I write a new story. He told me that someone one day would read my stories just as I enjoy reading something that someone else wrote. I will never forget that.

What an awesome experience! What are some of your dreams for yourself?

To be a best selling author, to do some public speaking and bring a word of encouragement and empowerment to other women.

Have you began writing any books yet? If so, how is that process going for you?

I have been a published author since 2007. I started out self- published and then was picked up by a small press/ independent publisher. I will soon re-release those titles, but I continue to ghostwrite and will be releasing some new work in the next year.

If you could have a do over, what are some things you would tell your former self?

No do overs. I’m where I am supposed to be by design. I would tell my former self to stop doubting yourself- you are magic.

What are you most proud of?

Stepping into my talents, fully and embracing myself for who I am unapologetically.

What are you not so proud of?

I’m a bit flighty and can have a quick temper so I try to manage all of that with a bit of coffee and a cupcake….the little things to make me happy!

Well, Tamara, I think we can all relate to that lol! I would like to end by you giving us a bit more info on how to find your blog and other social media accounts. Would you do that for us?
