You are the Success You Seek- In What Ways are you Already Successful?

When I look back at my blogging journey and particularly my statistics page, I cant help but wonder what was I thinking? I remember feeling so unsatisfied, always striving for more which can be a good thing. But I was never happy with the amount of comments, likes and follows I received. My audience was too small, not engaged enough. I don’t have enough writers or enough posts. Nowadays, I look back and say how did I get there?

If only I had those numbers again.

It’s a never ending battle really.

More importantly, how did I achieve all that and not stop to enjoy the moment. How did I forgot to take a step back from ambition and say this is pretty great- I’ve got a good thing going? How did I overlook the many fantastic writers we featured and the amazing group of bloggers that consistently read our blog?

I guess the lesson is to take a moment and step back and appreciate where you are, how far you have come, and how much work and sacrifice it took to get there. Even if you are not where you want to be, you are further along than you were.

In what ways are you already successful?

  1. I think success is hard because many people try to compare themselves to other people when I think success should be compared to yourself. Are you meeting your own goals? For blogging, are you writing things you like to write about, and still passionate about keeping a blog?

I think for myself, I start reasonable goals and try to meet them. I also try to be kind to myself, and I will think many people forget to do that as well!

  2. Thank you for posting this blog! I am new to blogging and it’s frustrating because I don’t have a lot of followers. I can’t help but to wonder will anyone read what I post and get something out of it? However, I remind myself I’m doing this mainly for myself. I had no idea how to get started I took a chance and picked WordPress and I’m happy that I did. I like how easy it is for. me to find other blogs that talk about things I enjoy reading and learning about. I feel that I’m successful at this because I went from I want to create a blog to I have a blog. That is a great feeling.

    1. That’s great, Melinda! Yes, to get from “I want” to “I am” is a milestone that should be celebrated. I definitely get the frustration as it is something I still struggle with. But remembering why you started is excellent advice.

  3. Great tips and questions! We are so hard on ourselves, it’s important to give ourselves permission to just be and stop to smell the flowers.

In what ways are you already successful? — I’ve been blogging on and off since 1999 (when Blogger first launched) and it granted me the opportunity to express different aspects of myself on my blogs of varied content and focus. I think the success comes from putting our thoughts out there, becoming part of a community and crossing paths with others I would never have a chance to connect to otherwise. 🙏

    1. I agree wholeheartedly, MW! I love the phrasing of giving ourselves permission to just be. I think that is so important.
Wow! 1999! Welcome to our corner of the blogosphere. I hope to see you around.

      1. I switched over to WordPress many moons ago…have had a few different WP incarnations over years. I still think about kindred spirits I connected to on my first WP blog. Sometimes people vanish from blogland and you miss their presence. The new WP editor is kind of a finicky and high maintenance mess, but I deal with it.😅
